The project goal

Give several landscape areas one durable, consistent plan.

The property had an aging tree ring, mixed front-bed materials and undefined strips around the home. The project needed to create clearer shapes, reduce difficult maintenance areas and connect the front, side and rear landscaping visually.

The completed plan combined a low raised bed at the porch, a substantial block tree ring, metal landscape edging and river-rock coverage in the designated areas. Red-mulch beds were added to the scope after work began, giving the utility and secondary areas a clean, contained finish as well.

The work, step by step

A clear beginning, middle and finished result.

The photos are arranged in project order to show the original problem areas, the construction behind the borders and the completed landscape.

01

Beginning

Clearing undefined beds and a worn tree ring

The front porch bed contained mixed vegetation and aging mulch, while the existing tree ring was low and loosely defined. The work began by clearing the designated areas and preparing new footprints for the blockwork, edging and finished landscape materials.

02

Middle

Building the blockwork and expanding the scope

A low block wall established the raised porch bed, and a larger matching tree ring created a stronger focal point in the front yard. Landscape fabric and metal edging prepared the remaining areas for their finish materials. After work began, the project expanded to include red-mulch beds in additional designated areas.

03

Finished

Coordinated stone beds from the front entry to the side yard

River rock completed the raised porch bed, tree ring and long foundation areas. The matching block, consistent stone and contained edges gave several separate parts of the property one coordinated, lower-maintenance finish.

What supports the result

The clean finish starts with how each area is defined.

01

Defined blockwork

The low porch wall and larger tree ring establish clear, durable shapes around two focal areas.

02

Prepared foundation

Aggregate beneath the blockwork helps support alignment before the visible finish materials are installed.

03

Contained materials

Landscape fabric and metal edging separate rock or mulch from the surrounding lawn and walkways.

04

Purposeful finishes

River rock handles the primary beds while added mulch gives secondary areas a coordinated, practical finish.
